Ashley Walker thanks those who voted for him

I didn’t get elected but am still proud that I fought a good campaign and did what I set out to do – use the election to raise a series of important issues.

I am very grateful that 193 people in the Stockport constituency were willing to put their trust in me to be their MP.

I am so immensely grateful to the people who donated £hundreds towards the campaign without your support we would not have been able to do as much as we did.

A report on our campaign:

Our campaign was smaller and more rushed than we would have liked due to the sudden nature of the election being called, meaning what we thought we would have months to organise we had to do in weeks.

Still despite that, we got 55,000 copies of our leaflet printed with the vast majority delivered to households in the constituency, ran 1 street stall, responded to many emails and the campaigns and issues they raised, posted on our website and social media accounts and attended 2 hustings.

Our candidate received several supportive remarks on how well they spoke at the hustings and we received a few comments on our website from people expressing their support.

Not bad for a small Stockport based political party, with very limited resources, running our first ever general election campaign.

The future:

We fully intend to keep running in elections in Stockport with the aim to perhaps one day be elected to represent it’s people but also to use the elections to make political points and highlight issues, and of course to recruit new members and supporters.

We are considering our plans for next year’s local elections so please do keep an eye on our website and social media. If you would like to get involved let us know!

Finally thank you again to our members and supporters for your help in the election, and of course a massive thank you to everyone who voted for our candidate!
